Settler's Cove

It wasn't too nice out today, but it wasn't horrible either, so on the way home from the grocery store Alex and I went to Settler's Cove. Alex had a great time hanging out on the beach as you can see from the pictures. He kept going in the cold, cold water, crazy boy!

Fourth of July

Here I am, on the Fourth of July parade float. I felt trapped because I wasn't able to get off of it once it started moving. The class cocktail party was the night before. It was good to see a lot of people. We did not get home until one in the morning and then Alex woke up at five, so pointless to say, the float ride was long and I could not wait to take a nap! Plus it's Ketchikan, so it was raining, of course. Saturday was the family picnic at Ward Lake and the weather was even more horrible. We didn't stay long as everyone was soaked in the first five minutes. But as much as I'm complaining, I did have a good time.

Damion made it back from camp. He was the first one running up the boat ramp and jumped into my arms, it felt pretty good! He loved camp! He did not have one bad thing to say about it and he is so excited to go again next year. He saw bears and a deer and was able to go intertubing, and swimming, and they did all sorts of things. It makes me feel so much better now that I know he had a good time. And of course he thought it was hilarious to tell me he only brushed his teeth once in four days. I sent him with a disposable camera, which he didn't bring home, so I am bummed about that. It's pretty cute seeing the pictures he takes. Oh well, next year.

Alex and his cousin Ella might end up in the newspaper. Aaron and his family watched the parade by the new docks downtown across from the bypass. There was a huge plastic tube there and Aaron stuck Alex and Ella (who were both in their strollers) inside of it to protect them from the rain. I wish I had a picture to post, it was adorable. Anyways, I guess Hall Anderson took their picture and asked for their names, so I can't wait to see the paper tommorrow.

Aaron headed out to Mirror Lake this morning to go camping with his friends, so we will be missing him for the next few days. Hopefully the weather will turn and they'll get some sunshine or something. And hopefully I'll get to write about a camping trip that I went on sometime this summer.
